The first case of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria has been confirmed by the Federal Ministry of Health.
In a statement issued in the early hours of Friday, 28 February 2020, the health minister Dr. Osagie Ehanire confirmed the situation.
The statement states that the case concerns an Italian citizen working in Nigeria who, on 25 February 2020, returned from Milan, Italy and Lagos, Nigeria.
The virology laboratory in the Teaching Hospital Lagos, which is part of the Nigerian Center for Disease Control’s (NCDC) Laboratory Network has shown it to be successful.
Moreover, the Ministry has confirmed that the patient is clinically stable and free of serious symptoms and is treated in Yaba, Lagos, Infectious Disease Hospital.
