Heavily pregnant Nigerian woman wins taekwondo competition (Watch Video)
Aminat Idrees, a heavily pregnant Nigerian woman, was the center of attention at the National Sports Festival in Edo after winning a gold medal in taekwondo.
Aminat, who is eight months pregnant, captured the mixed poomsae (demonstration) division in taekwondo at the ongoing 20th National Sports Festival, called the “Edo 2020 Games.”
Despite being pregnant, the Lagos athlete also won Silver in the female team Poomsae category and an individual bronze in the same category making her one of the leading medalists at the festival.
Video’s which captured her outstanding performance was shared online and stirred mixed reactions from netizens. while many commended her for her excellent performance and unmatched skill, critics berated her for engaging in such strenuous activity with her condition.
A Twitter user @James15674391 wrote, “This is dangerous o”.
@Angela201045315 wrote, “This is how they get themselves into problems and stress maternity staff for preventable problems”.
