Unknown gunmen set fire to a correctional facility in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to reports, the gunmen stormed the prison and released an undetermined number of inmates and suspects. There was also a lot of shooting in the city.
The number of inmates released from the facility is yet unknown.
The police command and some vehicles parked in the vicinity were set ablaze by the gunmen.
