The United States Advises Citizens to Leave Iraq “Immediately”
On Friday, the American State Department told Americans to leave the country while all consular operations were suspended in Iraq.
After the US killed Iranian top commander Qassem Soleimani in Baghdad on Friday, the United States ordered its citizens to move immediately out of Iran.
In a Twitter post the US said, “We strongly advise U.S. citizens to leave Iraq immediately due to increased tensions in Iraq and the region.
“Due to Iranian-backed militia attacks at the US Embassy compound, all consular operations are suspended. US citizens should not approach the Embassy.”
